A memorandum of understanding was executed between the Bangladesh Technical Education Board and the Ahsanullah University of Science and technology on the 25^th October, 1995. Institute of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ITVET), an institute of the University, is the first of its kind in the private sector in Bangladesh offering mid-level technical education with an innovative delivery method.  

The Institute now offers programs in 7 (seven) disciplines,

i) Architecture Technology,

ii) Civil Technology,

iii) Electrical Technology,

iv) Electronic Technology,

v) Computer Technology and

vi) Textile Engineering

vii) Chemical Technology

leading to the award of Diploma-in-Engineering. The programs are open to S.S.C. passed candidates or its equivalent irrespective of age or year of passing the S.S.C. examination. As the program operates in the afternoon and evening, persons engaged in full time jobs also can join the program as regular students. This innovative aspect of the program has opened up new opportunity to those who aspire to attain or improve their skill and competence in technology. The duration of course is now 4 years. In the 3^rd and 4^th year, there will be two/three examinations under Bangladesh Technical Education Board.
